Well summer keeps heating up and it seems as though these nu disco producers are having no trouble turning the extra rays into unstoppable tunes. We kick things off with the king of synth strings, Monsieur Adi. Who has been on a bit of a production tear lately, and turned The Kooks‘ ‘Around Town’ into a big room epic. Adi skates a fine line in his production between authentic disco funk, and overwhelming big room house a la Justice. On his more downbeat side he’s also just teamed up with indie sensation, Dan Croll to produce ‘Nobody Knows’, which brings Adi’s huge production scale into a more understated level and couples nicely with Croll’s emotive vocals. Elsewhere in Discoland our boy Moon Boots has pumped out another deep-house heater that’s set and ready to tear up clubs all summer long. Digitalism’s latest ‘Wolves’ got a new rub from Riton, who brings a much darker take on the track than did RAC, but nontheless has prepped this track for take over of any set into which it’s included. Finally, and admittedly a little outside of the nu disco scope, Wave Racer wins my award for track of the week with his glittery remix of Foster The People‘s ‘Best Friend’. Has there even been a track so perfectly suited for Racer’s dazzling, yet surprisingly substantive, remix style? I think not. Regardless, enjoy the weather ladies and gents and enjoy some perfect summer tunes!
