Is it still justifiable to blame things on daylight Savings time? Let’s go with that. I meant to blog from Trapfest yesterday, but had forgotten my computer charger, so that clearly didn’t happen.

But I got another shout out for y’all! But before I make that, can I ask who you’re most excited to see this year at Snowball? For me, hands down, it’s GRiZ. (What So Not is a close second). Have I mentioned lately that I love electronic music that is centered around live performance. It gives it feel, soul, vibe, whatever you want to call it.  And I won’t claim that horns are usually my favorite acoustic instrument, but damn does it work well with electronic music, as demonstrated by acts like GRiZ and Big Gigantic.

Don’t get me wrong, Electronic artists are perfectly capable of expressing themselves through their music if it’s all electronic. But when you add something as live and fluid as a saxophone, it just brings the whole thing to life. I personally find it very difficult to not dance to something as groovy and soulful as GRiZ. Not to mention, take a look at the video for “Smash the Funk” up top. Notice anything interesting. Like a MASSIVE amount of footage from Colorado. Specifically from the Fox Theatre and of Course Red Rocks. Even though the Avs fan in me wants to hold it against him that he’s from Detroit and has occasionally been seen on stage with a Red Wings jersey, he’s Colorado family.

Check out GRiZ and the rest of the amazing lineup for Snowball this year on April 6th. BUT! If you look at his tour schedule on his website, it says he’ll be at Snowball the 5th AND 6th. Typo, or special surprise? You decide. Hope to see you all there.

Much love,
