Another Friday with what appears to be yet another unseasonably beautiful weekend, at least here in the Mile High. We all know nothing helps us celebrate the warming weather quite like some tasty nu disco! If you follow me on SoundCloud you’ll notice that I’m reposting more, and being more selective with what makes the rundown. Call it tough, call it economics, but my goal is to supply you all with nothing but the best. Which is what we have here today. Of course if you think I’m really missing something that should be included be sure to message me on SC, and we’ll see about getting it included. Also be on the lookout for some more posts featuring some of the best up-and-comers in the world nu disco!

“I have so many influences from the past , but the biggest is without any doubt Daft Punk, who pushed me to create some “Sampling-Music” like them.” -Teemid on Good Music Inc.

– If you heard Teemid‘s ‘Tape #1’ (like 70,000 people now have), then you likely lost your mind trying to figure out whose remix of Asegir’s ‘King and Cross’ he started off with. Well it’s an official Teemid version, and while the track has received some serious remix love previously this version really shows them all up. It preserves the haunting vocals that make the original so great, while stepping it up with echoing lead synth lines and a steady beat that preps this thing to take over any late night dance floor.

-As you know I’ve been all about That’s Nice’s ‘Holiday’ and the subsequent remix-a-palooza thereof. The rerubs have been so prevalent that not all can get featured, but I just couldn’t skip over the Keljet version. They crank up the energy in a big way with a more driving backbeat and steel drums galore. If the original didn’t get you ready for a vacation, this one surely will.

– Dutch hero Sam Feldt has been turning heads across the country lately on his first U.S. tour, but that won’t stop the man from putting out incredible tracks. This original is called ‘Midnight Hearts’ and was co-produced with The Him (and official comes out today!). It’s definitely a step towards a more big room house feel than his other recent production, but won’t be out of place at any deep house club this weekend. As always, we’re hearing a solid concept being married to impeccable execution.

Penguin Prison may have started out making tons of remixes, but of late I’m thinking that the New Yorker is ramping up towards a release. The latest original ‘Try To Lose’ shows off, once again, some of the best production in the world of indie dance. Really I’m just hoping for a full-length release rather than just an EP.

Niklas Ibach, master of harmony, is also a master of remixes. His latest swing at ‘I’m A Ghost’ by Hilltop Hoods certainly boasts an interesting track selection; coupled with his driving and chilling production, this track has become one formidable remix.

‘Dream’ is late-night-smoker of a track, but marks yet another strong step forward for one my favorite emerging artists.

-Speaking of artists who are absolutely on the up and up these days: Autograf has been taking over stages, featured mixes, dominating SoundCloud feeds, and now impressing us all with this original ‘Dream’. It takes a more subdued approach than their other recent productions, but with such deeply soulful vocals everything seems to fit just right. Thanks again for tuning in to That New Nu, hopefully that will be plenty to get this beautiful weekend kicked off proper and help those of you in colder places (than Denver, HA!) feel a little bit more summery. As always check out my SoundCloud for daily updates on what’s hot in nu disco, and don’t be afraid to reach out if you think I’m really just missing something awesome.
