Hello hello happy disco folks and a big happy Thanksgiving to all of you! It doesn’t matter if you’re grinding through a long weekend with the family, chilling at home, or eating a day-old turkey sandwich from the dorms. Nu disco can an will make things better. Seeing as I’m doing the first of those three things, I’ll have to jam right through this be we still have some awesome tracks for you! -Grabbing the headline this week the soulful Melanie Martinez has recieved some choice remix work, most notably from Bobby Green and SNBRN. Bobby keeps it summer as fuck with this bouncing off the walls remix; while the meteoric SNBRN flexes his deep house muscle, and shows us that he’s not just a fad, but a force to be reckoned with. –RAC never lets us rest it seems. This week he laid a remix of ‘Cool Kids’ by Echosmith on us. This track is rightly blowing up indie playlists right now, and true to form RAC has prepped this thing for clubs, house parties, and your next mix. -I’d say the biggest surprise of the week came from Louis Vivet and this cover of ‘Save Tonight’. I’d never heard of this cat before (likely because he doesn’t have much material). But one way to get everyone’s attention is always a great cover. And what a cover it is. The vocals are chilled below zero, but big 80’s synth lines, and a little house touch makes for a very memorable track. –Manila Killa laid a huge remix of Tegan & Sarah’s ‘Walking With a Ghost’. He keeps himself front and center in the world of summer remixes. –Le P. remixes Gorgon City, with this unique take. It preserves much of the original, but in my mind brings this things over to the nu disco camp from Gorgon’s undoubtedly deep house roots. -Deep house original from Nicolas Haelg shows some great progress from an artist who won’t relent on his production schedule. ‘Open Up People’ isn’t an over-the-top banger like you might expect a foray into a new genre, but then again Haelg wants to get played at home, not take over dance floors. -Finally, the main man Zimmer has tendered this remix of ‘Kings & Queens’ for your listening pleasure. He’s showing a little bit of a future beats propensity here with some very glittery synth lines, but keeps things very locked down with walking bass and the good ol’ nu disco shuffle on the drum beat. That’s all for this week thanks once again for tuning in, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’ll be back again next Friday with a brand new playlist for you, but if you don’t want to wait that long, just follow me on SoundCloud and I’ll keep you dancin’ all week long!
