Last Friday, Denver got to witness the magic of Barclay Crenshaw aka Claude VonStroke. Claude, owner of Dirtybird & Mothership records, is known for his funky, deep house music. Barclay (his real name) released his first solo project and self-titled album a few weeks ago. Breaking away from the house and techno music for this project and following his love for hip hop, the new album is combined with satisfying future, electro beats and vocals. J.D. Breneiser | Oberto Photography Cervantes’ was already packed by 11 – an hour before Barclay took the stage. Fans were decked out in their Dirtybird swag as they awaited for him. From heavy bass to dirty beats, this sold out show was a real treat. With a majority of songs being played off his new album, it’s clear to state that “U Are In My System” was a crowd pleaser. Everyone turned up the switch and dropped low to this prime track that features The Cool Kids. It’s always fascinating when an artist steps outside of the box with a different genre of music and still manages to capture everyones souls. The visuals were funky patterns much like the artwork on his album and dreamy like space. J.D. Breneiser | Oberto Photography The show ended pretty early (around 1:15 am) but as people packed outside and gathered their friends, everyone was still on a high and communicating about how great of a show it was. Missed this show? Head to Sonic Bloom this Summer to catch Barclay Crenshaw and experience this dope, new found sound of his.
