Since their humble beginnings in 2012, MAGNA CARDA has managed to make a successful name for themselves in Austin’s very competitive music scene. Referred to by MASHABLE as “Austin’s answer to THE ROOTS,” this group was founded by beat maker and producer Dougie Do, and frontwoman Megz Kelli. For their brand new full length album CirQlation, they’ve since added guitarist Eric “The Greek” Nikolaides, bassist Derek Van Wagner, and drummer Michael Gonzales to give the group an even more diversified genre platform, as well as an eclectic array of jazz, R&B, and electronic elements to their sound. Magna Carda provides the hip hop relief that a city overflowing with country and rock n’ roll so desperately needs, and with the recent debut of CirQlation, they don’t plan on being confined to the limits of Austin, TX for much longer. In fact, they were just added to the lineup for TREEFORT MUSIC FEST in Boise, Idaho, and will be performing alongside some stellar artists including AESOP ROCK, ODDISEE, LEFTOVER SALMON, and THUNDERCAT. Information on the festival and tickets can be found HERE.
